DIY: Cutoff Shorts

                 What you need:
      • your favorite pair of cutoff denim shorts
      • a pair of old jeans
      • extra sharp scissors
      • a safety pin
      • chalk or a marker
      • and a washer/dryer

           The Process:
      1. Watch as many youtube videos as you can on the topic of distressed denim...it will inspire you. :)
      2. Find a pair of old jeans you don't like or fit into anymore. (or go buy some at a thrift store) High-waisted is best.
      3. Use your favorite pair of cutoff shorts as a reference for length.
      4. Turn denim inside out. It is way easier to work with.
      5. Cut half of jeans off, at knee line.
      6. Fold denim shorts in half and jeans in half. Lay on top of the other and line up the crotch area.
      7. Using chalk or a marker, draw a line along edge of shorts on your jeans.
      8. Cut along the line on both sides, be careful not to cut them too short!
      9. Next use your safety pin to put out the threads on your new shorts. Layer by layer slightly tug on the edge of the shorts to create the distressed look. This can be very time consuming.
      10. Add slits with your scissors, then using the safety pin, pull out the threads.
      11. Once you have distressed them to your liking, throw them into the washer and dryer.
      12. Now try 'em on; add a top and some accessories. Vuala!

I just love the way they turned out!!

(Leopard) Hot Pants

Victorias Secret tee  Forever 21 hot pants  Hurley denim jacket  Steve Madden sandals  Forever 21 bag  Tilly's sunglasses  Kate Spade /Liebeskind Berlin bracelets

Yup, I bought these hot pants (which are actually shorts...but they call 'em pants) from F21 at 50% off. They were a steal for like $8, had to do it. Added bonus, they are metallic and leopard print. Winning. And I obviously paired them with a basic tee and denim jacket. Just a perfect little combo. What can I say, I make big splurges ;) My pocket book can handle it I guess...jokes.

Today was such a lovely day. Beautiful weather and thankful for all I have.

Orange Crush

Anthropologie tee  Banana Republic cardigan  Forever 21 skinny jeans
Sam Edelman flats  Etsy necklace  the Sak bag  Tilly's sunglasses  Vintage watch

Today I went for an effortless, laid-back vibe. "California cool." Did I accomplish it okay? I feel super comfy cozy with a pop of color. This shade is perfect for spring/summer...a little orange crushin' for ya.

Every girl should have a classic striped cardi in your closet; it seriously is so easy to throw on and add a little extra excitement to your outfit. Must have. I feel like I keep telling you things to have in your closet...hope you are making a nice long list!

On another note, see those skinny jeans I am wearing? Well, I added the hole on the knee myself last week!! A little DIY project for myself. I feel like distressed denim is all the rage right now in the blogging world, and everyday STYLEistas like you and me gotta catch up! I decided to save money and make my own version of these hole-y jeans. I will do an example post for you to see too; coming soon! Saving money, plus having fun!! How can you go wrong...

Hope you have a good week and enjoy every little detail. Life is beautiful; so take it in and share your light with others :)

Just Blaze

Sometimes, you just need to blaze. And when I say blaze I don't mean smoke the
Mary Jane...I mean wear a blazer. The new definition for "just blaze" is to wear a blazer.
Get it ladies and gents!

Worthington blazer  Pleione tank top  TOPSHOP skinny moto jeans
MIA leopard platform heels  vintage chain & cross

I just love these skinny jeans, everything from the dark green color to the exposed zipper accents. I automatically feel "cool" wearing them. My mom literally called me a rockstar today. It. Was. Awesome. Okay, and this blazer is on crazy clearance at JCP at the moment. I mean its not the best quality, but heck its cute! Plus blazers are literally all the rage, put one on with everything and you will be on trend. They go great with graphic tees and distressed denim then on the other end, they are absolutely perfect over a dress for work or play! Easy throw on and go kind of a deal.

Like I said, just blaze.

Giles: Spring 2013 RTW

This show was very unique to say the least. It has a few wearable looks and a few almost couture looks. The first half can easily fit into every woman's lifestyle...the second half is more to catch your eye. And hair? It's definitely attention grabbing and interesting. I do actually love the
dress on the model in the bottom right.

Thoughts? Yes, no, maybe so?

I say yes and maybe.
