DIY: Costume

                                  What you need:
          • Black Dress (H&M)
          • White Felt (JOANN's)
          • Red Bow-tie (Costume Castle)
          • Scissors
          • Sharpie
          • Safety Pins
          • Black Nail Polish
          • Fun Wedges (Jeffrey Campbell)

Happy (early) Halloween!

Every year I always struggle with what to be for Halloween. I try to be creative and different, so this year I wanted to make my own costume! When I created this I planned on being a penguin, but a friend mentioned that it looks like the cat in the hat. All you need if you want to be cat in the hat, is "the hat." This penguin costume is actually super simple to make, you just need to visit a few stores and get to business.
    1. Step one is put on Happy Feet movie soundtrack to feel even more inspired!
    2. Next, buy the items you don't have and put it all out to see.
    3. Measure out the white felt and use the sharpie to create the circular shape you want.
    4. Cut out the shape using your scissors.
    5. Place the shape on your dress, make sure its not too high or too low.
    6. Using the safety pins, be careful not to poke yourself, attach the shape to the dress.
    7. Paint nails black. (it just goes, if you are even more creative, make them penguins too)
    8. Throw on the red bow, heels, and vaula!
Easy peasy, and oh so cute!

Black on Black on Neon

Dress: H&M (old)
Sweater Vest: Michael Stars (old)
Booties: REPORT
Bag: Target
Earrings: Pier 1 Imports
Bracelets: Liebeskind, J.Crew, BP Nordstrom

In case you did not know, I am a fashion student based in Orange County. I have been blogging for a little over a year and have really started to branch out with my blog. I am now on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Bloglovin!! Like and follow me, I will do the same :)

Today with my fashion class we trekked to Downtown LA for a little fieldtrip. We visited numerous showrooms and shopped our hearts out! Cheers to SAMPLE SALE FRIDAYS!! I made so many great purchases, not gonna lie. Bonus: prices are crazy good compared to retail at all the stores I normally shop at. I wanna start going a little more often, it really is fun to hunt for unique pieces. I can't wait to show you some of the things I got :) Wait and see the goodies!

I felt a tad bit edgy today and wanted to layer, so I opted for black on black on black with a pop of NEON and turquoise. This look is flowy and dark which makes for a great sassy look. My favorite part of this is the fact that I am sporting socks (and being proud to show 'em off) with my booties...super trendy right now. Hope you like.

Day to Night

Top: TravelSmith, Jeggings: Jolt, Belt: J.Crew, Flats: H&M, Wedges: Jeffrey Campbell, Bracelets: BP, J.Crew, Necklace: vintage, Bag: Target, Clutch: vintage, Sunnies: thrifted

Today I wanted to try something new for ya'll...one look that can be worn for the day then dressed up for night! The day-time version is simple, yet has some great accessories (neon bag, square sunnies, and funky bracelets). To spice it up for an evening out, switch out the shoes, bag, and opt for a chunky statement necklace.

The basics of this look are the denim shirt and a pair of simple black jeggings. These are MUST haves for any woman! They can be re-worked in countless ways and to me are timeless.

Off to work!

Mary Katrantzou: Fall 2012 RTW

While doing my weekly style.com visit today, I came across Mary Katrantzou's Fall ready-to-wear line. She showed in London earlier this year and I just cannot seem to get enough of these graphic, almost 3D prints. She has a serious eye for color and mixing prints in a way that most designers might be afraid of. The shapes of the garments are crazy cool too, very exaggerated. Loving the neckline--borderline turtleneck!
Major.

One Skirt: Three Ways

One Skirt: Way One

One Skirt: Way Two

One Skirt: Way Three

Crazy how one piece can be re-worked so many ways. This skirt is so versatile and the price is so great, I mean it is faux, but still.
Way One reminds me of Blair Waldorf straight out of Gossip Girl in her younger Constance years. All the look needs is a headband ;) The way I styled the look is actually far too edgy for Blair though.
The second look is is easy, throw on, and go. Edgy, stylish, adorbs. Love that the booties are actually wedges.
Look three is super chic. I can totally see Olivia Palermo rockin' it out and about. Pointy-toe pumps are a classic piece to have in your wardrobe, regardless if they are currently trendy. Don't forget it :)

Colorspiration: Maroon

Colorspiration: Maroon

This morning I woke up and felt inspired, wishing today would feel like a Fall day. Fall to me is warm colors, pumpkin pie, family time, oh and comfy cozy weather which means layering! Some perfect colors for the season are: maroon, orange, gold, army green, camel, and of course, black. But of course I am a firm believer in color all year round.
These are a few maroon colored pieces that I am drawn to...some classics (pencil skirt, trench coat, infinity scarf) and some wild pieces (ombre shorts, ankle booties, skinny jeans). My brain is reeling with outfit ideas right now...
Work soon, can't wait!
